Oh, my goodness, can you list how many things occupy your time, money, thoughts and attention throughout the day? Does any of these include God? Is He your “priority” in your everyday life? Do you speak to Him often and not just once or twice or on a whim but “daily”? If we start our day out right by spending quality time with the Lord we will fill up our souls and hearts, just like we have a healthy breakfast in the mornings to get us through the day, God will do the same. Laying out your needs, your burdens, your concerns in the early morning will be refreshing and your load is much lighter. God hears every prayer, sigh, or thought you have and share.
Do not allow the world to cloud your focus and vision of God, walk away from fake and materialistic things that prove to be distractions from the Truth. Do not bow down to other Gods. Ask yourself, Am I truly loving God and HIs Word or am I bowing down to my feelings?
The first of the Ten Commandments states we will have no other gods before Him. Exodus 20:3 and in Deuteronomy 5:8-9 NLT says You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.
As it is plain to see, a challenge we have to confront is living in a world full of humanism and people not wanting God and His Truth to interfere with their lives and routines. It seems we have an epidemic of selfishness in our world today, and this creates all kinds of unhealthy situations.
For example, when people refuse to honor God and follow His wisdom in their decisions, it causes them to become bogged down with worry, resentment, and bitterness. Eventually, it shows up as sickness and disease in their bodies. And in our culture, this behavior causes a decline in our moral standards and attitudes.
So, remember if you mess up, don’t be discouraged and let it hold you back; confess it and keep going. God will give you the grace to do what you need to do. One day at a time, you and God together can do anything! He hears your words and is listening to you with love and patience.
Make it a priority to establish a habit of living for God and placing him as your first priority. Remember to lean on Him more than anything else, and tell Him, “God, I want to do this, but I can’t do it without You.” He doesn’t expect you to live for Him in your own strength or ability, and He understands when you make mistakes.
Know that God is there to shine upon you and provide love, blessings, and forgiveness.
God is your light upon your path! Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
