Praying Scriptures

How do you feel after God speaks to your heart through his word? Have you found yourself at a loss for words when praying in distress to Him? If I am at a difficult time in my life, I just ask Him to please open my eyes to read His message and help my hands to open the Bible to scripture that He desires for me to read.

God knows everything that is weighing on our hearts and minds. We don’t have to come up with a specific method to pray, but He is deeply touched when we pray for the truths in His heart back to Him. God loves it when we agree with Him through His Word. We read His Word and let the Holy Spirit speaks to us through it. Then we pray it back to Him as the Holy Spirit leads us. His Words are Spirit and Truth in John 4:23-24; 6:63. When we pray God’s Word, it marks us on the inside, changes us, and builds us up. We unite with God’s heart in a most amazing way.

But the hour is coming and is now here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is the spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24

God upholds all things by the word of His power. When we read and pray in His Word we can have a living, active dialogue with Him in our heart, but we must receive it with obedience, faith, and devotion. When we abide by it everything else seems to fall into place. God and His Word places light into the darkest places.

Scriptural prayers are easy to find. Start with Psalms, the prayers of wisdom such as the book of Proverbs, the Song of Songs, the prayers of the Prophets, the prayers of Jesus, the apostolic prayers, and the hymns of Revelation. Pinterest and Google are a good start too and save it to your home screen on your laptop and phone for easy and quick reference. Or if old school, you can go to the back of your Bible and look up verses for what you need.

God’s words strengthen our emotions and give us hope and revelation. If you find yourself overwhelmed with so much on your plate, write it out make a list if need be, and be specific in your prayers to God. Many times his answers are quick and I am blessed with Peace and understanding.
