If you want to be respected you must give respect. Humility and Honor are to be used in every area of your life. The wise person that is full of integrity and has morals and values is the one you want to study and learn from. If they criticize you in a constructive way then you will listen and accept it. It is for your own good and is done in love.
In these days, we are seeing more and more self-righteous young people that think the world should be giving them what they want on demand. I believe they are called “Millennials”. Life is hard out there in the big world and they are about to have a rude awakening if they don’t change how they think.
As a parent to our now adult son and daughter, my husband and I would teach them about respect, integrity, values and morals, safety and making good decisions and facing your consequences when you’ve made bad choices. Unlike the terrible two’s the Teen years are the hardest. Yes, the boundaries were challenged and the consequences were set in stone for them. But, they are still here to tell you they survived and it made them a better person to respect the rules and understand why life has them. Reminding everyone out there, to always be humble and kind and respect the words of wisdom.
The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise. He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility. Proverbs 15:31-33
